Debi Katsmar, business owner and local community ambassador registered today as a candidate for one of two council seats in Ward 2, Welland.
Welland, Ontario - June 5, 2018 Today, Debi Katsmar is pleased to announce her enthusiasm and interest in representing the citizens of Welland as a councillor for Ward 2 in the upcoming municipal election on October 22nd. She is looking forward to 'Making It Happen Today, For A Better Welland Tomorrow'.
"I've always wanted to be involved at the Municipal level of government to help build a successful community for all. After being so involved with the citizens and people of Welland over the past two and half years, that I found the right fit and timing. I love Welland and all this community represents. So many willing to do so much for those who call Welland home. I want to do more," says Debi Katsmar.
Although Debi is new to the political world, her vast business experience and willingness to ask questions to get answers has been proven through a long history of community activity, fighting for the under-dog and motivating people for a common good. She is no stranger to working with committees and presenting to council. She is organized, committed and always has an open ear - she listens, is accessible and is highly motivated.
Living and operating her marketing business in Welland, Debi is married (Bill) and has two sons (Hendrik and Mackenzie) and a step-son (Daniel). All three boys, now in their mid-20s, have successful careers of their own. Debi has volunteered her time with various organizations since her early 20s. She has spear-headed several campaigns on important issues throughout Niagara, and last year was the chairperson for Canada's 150th in Welland Committee, bringing year-long family events to the Welland community. It was working with the 16 committee member team, and all the powers within Welland, that drove her decision to run for council for Ward 2 this year. Debi is committed to the Welland community and all it offers.

I want to help lead the community in a bigger way and look forward to meeting even more of the people from this great City.
