A Place for Youth in Welland on the Waterfront

The Welland SkateBoard and BMX Park grand opening was this past weekend.

Saturday, June 9th I had the pleasure of attending the grand opening of the Welland Skateboard and BMX Park on Lincoln Street. Situated on the water and visible for all to see as they drive by, the skatepark is sure to be a fun spot for the youth of Welland for years to come. The day's events were packed with entertainment, the official ribbon cutting and a demonstration.

I, along with the Canada's 150th Committee in Welland played a small part in the skatepark coming to fruition through a Canada 150 Infrastructure grant. The majority of the credit however goes to the Mayor's Youth Advisory Committee (MYAC) - a project they have worked on for years.
